Concise Sentences, Amazing Adjectives, and Perfect English!

Close your eyes and take two minutes to sit and think about a great holiday you went on.

Who was there? What did you like about it? What was your favourite thing to do?

Now read the sentences below and add in your own adjectives, change the word order, get your creative juices juiced and lets paint a perfect picture for our audience.

Here's an example to get you started!

 

Example: We went to the beach. The sand burnt my feet.

Answer: We went to a beautiful white sand beach and the sand was so hot it burnt my feet.

 

We relaxed all day long to the sound of the sea. I read a book.

 

 

Then my day turned upside down when my ice-cream fell into the sand. I got sand in my sandwiches. Everybody laughed at me. I laughed too.

 

 

We went to a restaurant by the seafront and ate fish 'n' chips. I was still hungry. The food was perfect.

 

 

My wife and I have been going there every year for the past 50 years. I have articles published in tourist magazines describing our stay.

 

 

'Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder' always publish my articles. It's an international best-selling magazine. They love them. A lot of people write to the magazine and me to tell us they enjoy reading them.

 

 

I love sharing my experiences with other people. Hapiness shared is twice the pleasure. Its an old English saying.

Additional exercise:

After you finish this exercise invite somebody in your house like your Mum or Dad to hear you practice speaking the words you've wrote. Just ask them to stand at one end of the room while you are at the other end. Practice by reading the sentences strong and loud so they can hear.

Tips:

  • Always have a thesaurus and a dictionary. (www.dictionary.com is an excellent resource to check your spelling and it has a very good thesaurus page all in one webpage).
  • Search google and the internet for adjectives. Simply type adjectives and hit the return button.
  • Remember to put the adjectives before the nouns.
